How strange that a team can play tremendously one week and then woefully the next.
It's seems to be the case with Chelsea. Maybe they are still hungover from the FA cup final and could not think straight. Then again, eight players from the winning side were not on the pitch last night. I believe that Roberto Di Matteo (RDM) would be resting those troops for the big game against Bayern on the 19th May.
Let's hope his plan works as we've just been put in a position where we have no choice but to win the Champions league to ensure European participation next year. If that does happen, then the widest smile would be on Roman Abromovich's face... It might just guarantee RDM the job for next season...at least.
Note: Personally, i would like to see Jose come back and whip these boys back into shape. Or at the very least, get rid of the ageing players and bring in new blood. We desperately need capable youth in the mould of Daniel Sturridge to come to the fore and bring great football to the pitch. If he does come back, please let him do his job for a long time and without interference. The Shevchenko incident should have taught you that.
